Former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos can be buried at a cemetery for heroes, said the country’s president.
President Rodrigo Duterte added he will allow anti-Marcos protesters to hold public demonstrations against the move.
Mr Duterte said Marcos, who died in 1989, is qualified to be buried at the military-run cemetery as a soldier and as a former president. The planned burial may be held on September 18 , Duterte disclosed that he once voted for Marcos as president and that his late father, a politician, had served in Marcos’s cabinet. Marcos family representatives have gone to the cemetery to choose a burial site and make preparations ahead of final arrangements, said an army spokesman.
