UAE: No fireworks at Burj Khalifa this New Year’s Eve


#Dubai: There will be no fireworks at Burj Khalifa on December 31, officials announced on Wednesday.
The fireworks, which attract visitors from all across the world, will be replaced with a special light show.

Emirati accused of raping his Filipino maid in Dubai


#Dubai: A 62-year-old Emirati man has been accused of raping his 52-year-old Filipina maid after threatening to physically assault her at his residence, a court heard on Sunday.
The maid was said to have absconded from her 62-year-old sponsor’s went directly to the police station in October where she alleged that she had been raped.
The Filipina told the duty police officer that her sponsor had repeatedly raped her after threatening to beat her up.
Police summoned the 62-year-old employee for questioning, during which he refuted the maid’s claims and said that she had fabricated the rape case because he wanted to send her back to her country, Prosecutors charged the suspect with raping the woman after threatening to beat her.

Cebu Pacific Start Offering Cheap Flights To Philippines


#UAE: A promotion by Cebu Pacific shows the cost for a flight from Dubai to Manila at as low as Dh196 – for an all-in fare. The all-in fare is inclusive of base fare, applicable fees and taxes, web admin fee and 7kg hand carry baggage allowance.
The sale period of the promotion is from October 7 to 9. In order to avail of the discounted rates, passengers must be travelling within the period from January 1 to June 30, 2018, Cebu Pacific is also offering flights from Dubai to Osaka, Japan for only Dh859.
Tickets from Dubai to Osaka can be purchased from October 1-7, 2017 (today is your last day) for flights from November 1-March 31, 2018.


Dutch egg scandal puts consumer health at risk


#Dubai Municipality has issued a circular to food establishments to free the UAE market from contaminated Dutch eggs, the circular was issued following the technical information received from the ministry regarding the warning issued by the Food Safety Authority of Holland stating that the eggs are unfit for human consumption due to high percentages of the ‘Fipronil’ pesticide that may lead to health hazards.

Dubai Municipality Scotches Plastic Rice Rumours


#UAE: The Food Safety Department of Dubai Municipality has scotched rumours about the presence of plastic rice in the market.
the municipality said the rumour regarding plastic rice is a manipulation. There is no such thing in the market known as plastic rice, the municipality said.
The municipality also urged consumers not to publish misleading and unrealistic rumours. It stressed that all the food that enters the Emirate undergoes checks, and random samples are taken on a regular basis before it reaches the food markets.
